Button up your overcoat, friends, for tonight's Argenta ArtWalk, 5-8 p.m. It's 68 degrees and damp, which has to be a record for July 18. First stop, then, since it will no doubt serve something warm (or warming, as in wine) to drink, is the coffee shop Mugs Cafe
at 515 Main St. There you'll see work by the Quapaw Quarter Figure Drawing Group: Tim Ellison, Judith Faust, Jennifer Freeman, Jeannie Hursley, Marty Justice, Bonnie Nickol, Diana Shearon
and Dominique Simmons
. The group has been meeting for several years at the Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Church, pooling funds to hire a model. The show include work in charcoal, ink, pastel, marker, pencil and paint and runs through Aug. 24.
Greg Thompson Fine Art's "Summer Show" continues, featuring works by top state and regional artists, including Glennray Tutor, Kendall Stallings, Sheila Cotton, Robyn Horn, Ed Rice, Joseph Piccillo, William Dunlap, Guy Bell, Sammy Peters
and others. The gallery is at 429 Main St.
, a bit off the beaten track at 204 E. Fourth St., will also be open, showcasing the work of North Little Rock High School graduates and students taking part in the art career-oriented art program.
of Ficklesticks Fabric Jewelry will demonstrate her craft at Laman Library's Argenta
branch, 420 Main St. The library also has an exhibition of contemporary American quilts in its gallery.
There will no doubt be other ArtWalk events up and down Main that I was not alerted to. Enjoy.
