Head over to UALR's Fine Arts Building today at 5:30 p.m. to hear artist talks and later mingle and admire work by David Bailin ("Revision, Missing, Listen, Light, Fly: Drawings by David Bailin") and MA candidates Laura Raborn and Sandra Sell ("Recent Work") at 6:30-8:30 p.m. receptions for the artists.

Bailin's work, in Gallery II until May 30, includes his larger-than-life charcoal, oil, pastel and sometimes coffee drawings, works featuring a lone male office worker in spare surroundings. The LA Times has described the work as portraying "absurd working conditions we associate with the Kafkaesque — bureaucratic cul-de-sacs, depersonalizing cubicles, psychic suffocation." Bailin is one of Arkansas's finest working artists.

Raborn and Sells will talk about their work in Room 151. Raborn has won several awards for her representational paintings, including the Wilma and Jack Diner Purchase Award at UALR and the Juror Award at the Irene Rosenzweig Biennial Juried Exhibition at the Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas in Pine Bluff.
