Today is Kari Faux Day here at the Arkansas Times, as the Little Rock rapper and producer has released both her new mixtape, "Spontaneous Generation," and her new video, for "House of Avalon," in which Faux dances around the city and says she's "trying to ball like a debutante." The tape features a handful of her best recent songs, like "Vince Carter" and "Rap Game Daria," plus guest appearance by Little Rock exile S.L. Jones (on what might be my favorite track here, "Banging in the Rock") and production by locals Malik Flint and Fresco Grey. It's a strong statement and a lot of fun to listen to.

There will be a release show for the mixtape Sunday night, 9 p.m. at the Rev Room, which will also feature performances by C-Port, Taylor Moon and Fresco Grey. Faux will also be at SXSW this year, representing Little Rock at the Lean Pizza Showcase (sponsored by Steady Leanin' and Ghostpizza) on Friday, March 14 at The Eastern.

You may recognize some of these names from the Natural State of Mind showcases held periodically at Juanita's. Incidentally, last week's "Good Vibes" concert was broken up by the LRPD, presumably not rap fans, who handcuffed and escorted Faux and Flint out of the building after threatening the latter with a taser. Flint claimed in an email that the "cops didn't read either of us our Miranda Rights and didn't tell me what I got arrested for until i got to the police station," and on Twitter, Faux said she was "harassed and assaulted." Good Vibes. Stream the tape below:
