mixed-media work borrows from the repertoire of famed artists to inspire a new way of looking, or using, images. Work by the former associate director of the Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., will be the subject of a talk, "Interpreting the Recent Works of James Volkert,"
at 6 p.m. tonight (Jan. 30), by Alana Embry
of the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. She'll be speaking at the Fort Smith Regional Art Museum
, which hosted an exhibition of Volkert's work, "RE:history."
