WAKA FLOCKA FLAME
10 p.m., Juanita’s. $40.
Despite what has to have been a tough few weeks, Atlanta MC Waka Flocka Flame is soldiering on. Waka’s younger brother and fellow rapper Kayo Redd took his own life back in late December. Waka told Washington, D.C., radio station WKYS, “That boy had a lot of stress on him. It’s a lot of things that go on behind doors that people don’t know about,” he said. But it’s important to keep going on even in the face of tragedy: “Life goes on,” he said. “That’s the motto for me, life goes on.”
So he’s still touring, still working on new music, including his third studio album, “Flockaveli 2,” which is scheduled to be released this year along with an electronic album he’s got in the works as well. He also said he still performs plenty of his numbers from a couple years ago, including plenty from “Flockaveli,” like the hit “Hard in da Paint,” “Grove St. Party,” and others. “I can’t dodge ’em,” he said. In addition to all that, the whole beef with Gucci Mane is settled. They’ve moved on, so we should too, so don’t ask about it, all right?
Also on this bill: WKiddB & Wayne’ D and Kodak.
