Several weekend events nixed ahead of winter storm warning

Let's hope it looks nothing like this on Thursday.

So it looks as if Central Arkansas, along with much of the rest of the state and the middle of the country, might be in for some nasty weather, a wintry mix to muck up your weekend plans. But who knows? Maybe ol' Ma Nature will throw us all a curveball and it'll be 68 degrees and mostly sunny.

But just to be safe, several events have already been cancelled or postponed, among them all high school football championships, Cody Belew's "Belew Christmas" concert at Wildwood Park, Thursday's Lucero concert at George's in Fayetteville (Friday's show is still on as of Wednesday night) and the Christmas parade and tree-lighting events in Little Rock.

UPDATE: Friday's Lucero show has been cancelled as well. All tickets will be refunded at the point of purchase.

We'll try to keep you posted as we learn of other cancellations, but for the most part you can just follow your instincts. If you stick your head out the window and everything's covered in ice and there's a pile of cars in the ditch, probably best to stay in.
