'Reflections in Pastels' at Butler galleries

The Arkansas Pastel Society's 5th National Juried Exhibition, "Reflections in Pastels, opens today at the Butler Center galleries in the Arkansas Studies Institute, 401 Clinton Ave., and the society will announce awards tonight at the 2nd Friday Art Night reception, 5-8 p.m.

The show includes work by 21 Arkansas artists. Juror was painter and teacher Richard McKinley of Little Rock; he selected the award winners, who'll receive a total of $5,000, including a best of show award of $1,500. The exhibition runs through Feb. 22. 

Also at the Butler galleries: "Native Arkansas," flora, fauna and geology from the University of Arkansas Museum, in Concordia Hall through March 15; "The Photography of Barney Sellers," through Dec. 28; and Abstract AR(t), works by Dustyn Bork, Megan Chapman, Donnie Copeland, Don Lee, Jill Storthz and Steven Wise, through Nov. 23.
