2013 Showcase winner The Sound of the Mountain.
Here we are in early November. Around these parts, that means we're in the gearing-up stages of the annual Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase
. We're lighting the tires and kicking the fires (that's right, we do things a bit differently
around here). Dave Ramsey, he's over there listening to the entire Stax Records and Dischord discographies, simultaneously. Lindsey Millar's in his office doing pushups with his ears. I'm on a steady regimen of nothing but Polish black metal and Grateful Dead shows from '71-'72 and '74. I'm sure the good folks at Stickyz
are getting pumped up as well. They live and breathe this live music stuff 25-8.
It's a tough job, but it's all done in the name of being ready for another five weeks of excellent tunes, culminating in a final round that will see the crowning of the next Times
All of that means: We wanna hear what you've got, bands of Arkansas. If you're based in The Natural State and you've got at least 20 minutes of original material, you are eligible. The showcase will start in late January and once a week for five weeks, four bands will square off for a panel of judges at Stickyz. The winner of each semi-final round will advance to the finals, which will be at Revolution.
Here's where to go to enter.
