Arkansas Arts Center Director Todd Herman told his board of directors today that the "Rembrandt, Van Dyke, Gainsborough: The Treasures of Kenwood House" exhibition brought in 18,376 visitors and  573 new members.

That averages around 200 visitors a day to the show, which is not bad. Foundations and private donors gave $400,000 to bring the show to the Arts Center; they included the Bank of the Ozarks, Harriet and Warren Stephens/Stephens Inc., Windgate Charitable Foundation, Sandra and Bob Connor, Remmel T. Dickinson, Chucki and Curt Bradbury and Lisenne Rockefeller.
Ticket revenue was $116,000.

Herman noted that 5,000 toured the exhibition with a docent or staff member, which indicated to him that "people are hungry for more knowledge." (Touring with a docent is always a rewarding experience.)

Herman also announced new acquisitions to the Arts Center, including Charles Burchfield's "Black Iron" (above), given to the Arts Center by Hope Aldrich in honor of John Rockefeller III.

The board received a preliminary report from auditors Thomas and Thomas that had no findings. The Arts Center ended the fiscal year ending June 30, 2013, in the black.
