Christ Episcopal Church's upcoming Arts @ Christ Church music series is pretty heavy.

We've told you about Mavis Staples, who'll perform in the church's main sanctuary on Friday, Oct. 11.

Also scheduled: Cantus, one of the country's premier men's vocal ensembles. It performs Tuesday, Oct. 8 in the main sanctuary. Tickets are $20 or $10 for students. You can get them in advance by calling 375-2342.

And on Monday, Nedelle Torrisi, a singer/songwriter who's performed under the name Nedelle and as a member of the band Cryptacize. More recently, she's toured with Sufjan Stevens and Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti. Earlier this month, she released a dreamy album of R&B-tinged synth-pop called "Advice from Paradise," which you can stream here. Kenny Gilmore, of Haunted Graffiti, produced and will accompany her on Monday. Check out Torrisi's video for her song "Can't Wait" at Vice's Noisey.

Tickets for that show are $5. It'll be held at the church's new performance space, The Undercroft, which you get to by entering the sidewalk-level red door of the church on Capitol Ave., east of Scott St.
