REMBRANDT: Three days left to see him.
If you have put off seeing "Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Gainsborough: The Treasures of Kenwood House, London"
at the Arkansas Arts Center, you need to get in gear. The show goes down Sunday; that gives you three days to see the collection of Dutch, Flemish, French and English masterpieces, including the terrific Rembrandt self-portrait, before it heads back to Kenwood House.
To give Rembrandt a decent sendoff, the Arts Center is throwing a "Last Call for Kenwood House Party"
from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. In honor of the 19th century collector of the works and the owner of Kenwood House, Edward Cecil Guinness, aka Lord Iveagh, there will be Guinness and Harp's beer, gin and tonics and wine to wash down the Irish pub cheese and miniature meat pies. There will be a "ceremonious closing" at the reception's end, the Arts Center says, and the promise of "surprises." All that for $20 for non-members, nada for members. You can of course buy a membership at the door.
