Food Feedback Friday: cross-eyed, clearing out, and couscous

I hope you all are getting out there and sampling some of the lovely produce we’ve got sprouting up all over Arkansas. The farmers markets are in full force and delivering some of the greatest produce in the country. If you’ve wondered what it takes to make great food at home, a large part of that answer depends on great ingredients, and you won’t find any better than what’s growing all around us.

It’s time once again for everyone’s favorite time of the week, the portion of our program that relies on every one of you to share with us what we’re missing out on. I know that, personally, I’ve discovered some sensational eats through our little weekly food forum and I hope you all will continue to bless us with your suggestions.

Last week on FFF, Dana was dishing on The Fold, claiming “the food was really fresh and amazing.” Superdan tried a few new things last week, one of them being the St. Louis style ribs at Cross-Eyed Pig, stating they were “big, meaty ribs with a great dry rub.” Also, Walker22 “noticed that the land for the long-advertised second location for Sushi Cafe was cleared” on Cantrell near Pleasant Ridge Town Center. The highlight of Sammy’s week was the Juicy Lucy at White Water Tavern and also reports that HAM will be doubling up on their stock of Friday-only burgers—that is good news, people. More favorable reports for Mike’s Vietnamese on Asher from Mordy who sampled the bun tom thit nuong (grilled shrimp and pork over vermicelli) and was pleasantly surprised. Slow Yeti calls the lamb couscous salad at The Root “flipping amazing,” comprised of lamb with “fennel, their greens mix, feta, some olives, radish pods, and that delicious dressing.” I know that dressing well, and yes, it is delightful.
