The second annual Arkansas Cornbread Festival seeks southern cooks, amateur and professional alike, to show off their bread. Competition categories include traditional, non-traditional and sweet cornbreads, and first prize is $500 cash. The festival will be held at Bernice Gardens on November 3, entry fees are $25 and $75 (amateur and pro), and festival-goers will help celebrity judges choose the winners. There’s also going to be a Best Side Item category, so any competitor is welcome to provide the side item of their choice.

The Cornbread Fest will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will include craft, furniture and food vendors and an Oxford American music stage. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 the day-of. Check the festival website for competition entry forms and vendor booth applications.
