The Baum Gallery at UCA in Conway opens two new exhibitions today: "Environments: Interrogating Space," a multimedia installation by Annie Strader, Matthew Weedman, Ryan Mulligan and Anna Vaughan; and "New Work: Color Portraits" by UCA professor Donna Pinckley.
Gallery director Barclay McConnell said the multimedia installation was a response to student requests for more such art. Strader is a professor of art at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas. Curator of the installation is Kristin Beal DeGrandmont. Baum's Facebook page has images of the installation.
Pinckley normally works in black and white, so moving into color is a departure, an exercise in which she's trying to create the same "psychological depth" as her black and white work offers, McConnell said.
There's a reception going on as we speak. The show runs through Feb. 26.
