Jose Hernandez, aka Ch3mex, the graffiti artist, muralist and fine artist, and graphic artist Robert Messenger have leased and are remodeling an 8,000-square-foot building at Seventh and Louisiana for their new enterprise, Dedicated art studios and retail. Hernandez said Dedicated will do graphic design jobs and include rental studio space for artists (including a darkroom), a common area, a gallery and store. He expects Dedicated to open in mid-February.
Hernandez said there will be exhibits in the gallery space every month. Already scheduled at the gallery is a fund-raiser for the skateboard park at Kanis Park. Skateboards painted by artists will be for sale.
Studio space rents will likely range from $100 to $250 a month. Contact Hernandez at Ch3mex@gmail.com for more information.
