Bluegrass quartet Runaway Planet will be pickin' up a storm at Laman Library, 7 p.m., free.
For a heaping helping of nutritious heavy metal, Kill Devil Hill headlines at Downtown Music Hall, with openers Bombay Black, This Tragic Day, At Wars End and Sychosys, 7:30 p.m., $16. The band includes former members of Pantera, Down, and W.A.S.P. Drummer Vinny Appice has played with a who's who of metal greats, including Dio, Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath.
Glittercore tones it down ever so slightly for an acoustic set at The Afterthought, 8 p.m., free.
The Arkansas Arts Center hosts "Tasting at Twilight," a fundraiser for the Arkansas Chapter of Hands & Voices, which supports families and their children who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as the professionals who serve them. It includes wine and hors d'oeuvres, a silent auction and viewing of the AAC galleries, 7 p.m., $50.
