Margie Roelands is charging forth with making wine from family grapes up in Gamaliel on Norfork Lake. She and her husband Brian bought Blue Lady Resort and moved here a few years back.
Now, I have heard people who have griped “how DARE someone come to Arkansas and not use Arkansas grapes.” Folks have not heard the full story on Raimondo Winery, and I think it needs to be told. So over on Tie Dye Travels that’s what I’ve done.
Margie is going to be using Arkansas fruit in some of her wines. I think that’s grand. I also appreciate the efforts she’s gone through (and her family has gone through) to refine specific grapes for family wines. That’s a heck of a lot of work.
The story that I think we’ll all be talking about soon, though, are the magnificent array of oils and vinegars she’s been whipping up. Mark it here first: they’re significantly unique and powerful concoctions that deserve to be talked about.
