The Walton Arts Center in Fayetteville is throwing a farewell party for its exhibit, "Garden as Muse," at 5 p.m. tonight, in conjunction with Fayetteville's First Friday downtown. The show doesn't really close until Saturday, so Central Arkansas readers consider a trip up the arts center.
One of my favorite works in the show is the above painting by Sarah McEneany and the weirdly wonderful anthro-floro-pomorphic (to coin a word) sculpture of Syd Carpenter. The show also includes photographs by Sally Apfelbaum, a fascinating wall piece by Markus Baenziger and a super painting of thistles by Lois Dodd. Now that I think about it, I'd really like to go back to this show to see it again. My only criticism was of the Apfelbaum triptych, which was one panel too many.
I've posted more images on my dormant until now tumblr site.
