George Wittenberg sends word that Bill Lewis won the Gold Award in the Mid-Southern Watercolorists 41st annual juried show, on exhibit at the Historic Arkansas Museum, with the picture above.
Other Arkansans winning cash awards were Wittenberg (MSW Past President's Award), Sandy Barksdale (Jacquelyn Kaucher First Timer's Award) and Marlene Gremillion (the Clifton/Wiggins Memorial Award). Mary Nancy Henry and Kay Aclin (omitted from original post; apologies) won honorable mentions. Lewis got the big bucks with his prize: $1,750.
Twenty-nine of the 38 artists whose work was chosen for the show (juror: Mark Mehaffy) are Arkansans. There were also entries from artists from Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma, California and Florida.
The exhibit runs through Aug. 7 in the Trinity Gallery.
