Rockists rejoice! R. Stevie Moore, the pop genius behind over 400 albums and some of the greatest songs ever recorded (seriously), is coming to White Water Tavern on Saturday, July 2. He's touring with Brooklyn's Tropical Ooze as a backing band. (These guys rip.)

The "Father of D.I.Y." has spent decades recording prolific amounts of music and self-releasing them from his New Jersey apartment and, along the way, picked up critical acclaim and an enormous cult following but—ain't it the way it goes—not much mainstream success. Heck, the man is infamous for somehow managing to have never become famous. His debut record, "Phonography," was named one of the "fifty most significant indie releases of all-time" by Rolling Stone, who also called Moore "a national treasure."

Okay, okay, full disclosure: I arranged this gig.

But to those uninitiated in the wild universe of RSM, check out these profiles in New York Times and Vice Magazine. And here's a trailer for "Phonography," the upcoming documentary about the underground music icon.
