The Center for Artistic Revolution is accepting artist made-and-donated hearts for its annual fund-raiser "Corazon," to be held April 2 at the ACAC (Arkansas Community Arts Cooperative) at 608 Main St., until March 27. You can create your own heart or get a wooden blank from CAR by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling 244-9690.
The benefit starts at 6 p.m. with a preview party (heavy hors d'oeuvres, music, beer and wine for purchase); the silent auction starts at 7 p.m. There will be a special guest: Will Phillips, the West Fork boy who at age 10 wouldn't say the Pledge of Allegiance because he believes that LGBTQ folk aren't accorded the same rights that heterosexuals are. The Times wrote about Will in 2009.
Tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. Proceeds from the benefit the work of CAR to educate and support gay, transgender and bisexual youths and adults.
