The Romany Rye, the Bakersfield, Ca.-based folk-rock quintet made up of 4/5ths dudes from Arkansas (who played Stickyz last night en route to SXSW), is moving on to the second round of the Rolling Stone "So You Want to Be a Rock 'n' Roll Star" contest. The winner gets to be on the cover of Rolling Stone and a recording contract from Atlantic.
Here's how the rest of the contest goes: In round two, four will advance based solely on public ratings, from March 16 to April 11. Round three will narrow four to two, again based solely on public voting, from April 27 to May 11. The final two acts will compete in a battle of bands at Bonnaroo. The winner will again be chosen by public voting, June 16 to July 1.
