The Central Arkansas Library System said today that patrons checked out 14,661 items on Tuesday in anticipation of the snow. That's double the daily average.
Speaking of books, how 'bout some recommendations?
I'm nearly finished with Dan Charnes' massive tome on the business of hip-hop, "The Big Payback." It's been a great read, sure to be considered just as foundational as Jeff Chang's "Can't Stop, Won't Stop" and the Ego-Trip Book of Rap Lists (my favorite book on music ever) in hip-hop studies in the years to come.
I'm also loving "The Imperfectionists," Tom Rachman's vignetted novel about an English-language newspaper in Rome.
And, if you haven't already, you definitely need to carve out an hour this weekend to read Lawrence Wright's 25,000 word story about Paul Haggis' fall out with the Church of Scientology. It's wildly fascinating.
