Things ought to be thawed out by the time the Baum Gallery of the University of Central Arkansas opens its spring season on Thursday. Look for five shows: "Improvised Intaglio: Jiří Anderle Prints from the Baruch Foundation," 20 etchings; "Habitats: Portraiture by Kat Wilson," work by the Northwest Arkansas photographer; "Earth: Fragile Planet," from the Society of Illustrators; and "Intersecting the Book: When Artists, Writers and Graphic Designers Create 2D Worlds," curated by UCA graphics professor Ray Ogar; and "Axis Mundi: Levittown," multimedia by UCA professor Holly Laws.

Receptions are set for 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, and 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16. To read more about the exhibits, go here.
