Arkansas Arts Center Announces Award Winners for the
53rdAnnual Delta Exhibition
(LITTLE ROCK, AR) — The Arkansas Arts Center announces the award winners for the 53rd Annual Delta Exhibition. The exhibition will be held in the Townsend Wolfe Gallery December 17, 2010 — February 20, 2011.
Juror Meredith Ward, president of Meredith Ward Fine Art in New York City, selected one Grand Award and two Delta Awards out of the 54 works represented in the 53rd Annual Delta Exhibition. The Arkansas Arts Center Contemporaries, a young professional group dedicated to supporting the arts, also selected a Contemporaries Delta Award and a Contemporaries Honorable Mention.
LaDawna Whiteside from Fayetteville, Ark., was awarded both the Grand Award and the Contemporaries Delta Award for her graphite on paper work Animal Architecture Drawing Installation. Brandon Mathis from Conway, Ark., received a Delta Award for his mixed media work Keeping the Faith. A Delta Award was also awarded to Rand Clinton Smith from Nevada, Mo., for his terra cotta work Two Sides. Kat Wilson from Fort Smith, Ark., was awarded the Contemporaries Honorable Mention for her digital print Artist, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Established in 1956, the Delta Exhibition of Painting and Sculpture features contemporary works by artists from Arkansas and the bordering states. The Delta Exhibition has grown to encompass works in all media and displays the dynamic vision of the artists of the Mississippi Delta region. The Delta Exhibition is open to all artists who live in or were born in one of the following states: Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas.
