Great news over the wires! Stones Throw, the LA-based go-to label famous for brilliant hip-hop and deep cuts of soul and funk, plans to release a double-CD compilation of music from True Soul Records, the legendary Little Rock label.

The label—and the True Soul Revue—will be in good company on the roster, right beside Madlib, MF Doom, Egon, Peanut Butter Wolf, Guilty Simpson and the late, great J Dilla: basically, a list of brainiac record diggers and emcees that reads like a hip-hop syllabus.

No date has been set yet, but we're told to expect it possibly by the end of the year, definitely sooner than later in 2011.

Also, the Revue is on the books for another show at White Water Tavern. And ho, ho, ho, wouldn't you know it's a special, one night only Christmas show! December 17. They're dusting off some funky yuletide tunes and promising a special appearance or two.
