The Arkansas Community Arts Cooperative opens a show of work by John Kushmaul tomorrow with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Kushmaul will be known someday as the man who painted Little Rock in the aughts. He's captured a demonstration in front of Sen. Blanche Lincoln's office, the skyline, Seventh Street (a great painting), The Rep and other local sights. He likes Italy, too (above).
From a press release:
Featuring many collaborations with photographers and other artists from Arkansas and from around the country, his new work consists of thirty pieces, all oil paintings, ranging in size from 20” by 30” to 4’ by 5’. All work will be for sale. Most of the works involve a photo transfer process that the artist then documents and posts the progression of the work online. A slide show of the progression of the work will also be on display.
Gallery hours are gallery 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays. The show will hang through July.
