The iPhone camera sucks in low light, but I think this picture still conveys the feeling of the first LRFF after party: It was like your really rich friend's parents had gone away for the month and your friend had redecorated to throwdown. Inside the Greek Revival manse, there were large globes emitting ice-y blue light, giant round cream-colored leather ottomans and Budweiser longnecks. And a great mix of near-celebrities (and a few bona fide ones), film geeks/makers and young folks who managed free passes.
Here's what I saw/heard: The best multi-acts at one party arrangement ever. Runaway Planet on the porch. g-force, DJing in the living room (I suppose) and Mandy McBryde and band playing in the yard. Dale Dickey, who plays the shit-kicking hag in "Winter's Bone," wearing wedge sandals and looking party-right. A bartender explaining to another bartender why he should know Joey Lauren Adams. Marc Smirnoff wearing a seersucker suit. Philip Martin with a blonde dye job. The sprinklers came on around 11:30 while dozens were milling about outside. Huge times.
Also, in the real news category, the Renauds are making a doc about Haiti for HBO due out later this summer.
