Wednesday: Chase Pagan, Gooding, Sapphire

Union has Wynne-born multi-instrumentalist Chase Pagan, who returns to Little Rock for what seems like the first time in a straight up minute, 10 p.m., donation.

Darril 'Harp' Edwards works on his steel drum for the crowd at Afterthought, 8 p.m., $5.

Los Angeles' self-described "widescreen rockers," Gooding plays a show at Vino's as part of their 50-state tour. Parabelle (one part Muse, one part Something Corporate, muddle, pour) and Patrick Ellis support, 9 p.m., $5.

Wednesday night's always good for musicians with standing weekly gigs: The Ted Ludwig Trio plays Capital Bar & Grill, 5 p.m., free; Lucious Spiller Band hits Sticky Fingerz, 9:30 p.m., $5; Jim Dickerson takes to Sonny Williams' piano room, 7 p.m.

And if you're looking for a big, big, big name in town tonight, look no further than Philander Smith. Harris Auditorium: Built to Honor Former Philander Smith President M.L. Harris" auditorium, 7 p.m.
