Iron Tongue

Formed: August 2009

From: Little Rock

Members: CT (vocals), Mark Chiaro (guitar), Stan James (drums), Reid Raley (bass), Jason Tedford (guitar).

Album: Not yet, but Tedford says they're looking to some split vinyl releases soon and record an album by the summer.

This is not a band that makes sense on paper: Chiaro and James play in the Southern rock 'n' blues act Jeff Coleman and the Feeders, Tedford is a local producer extraordinaire who played (and still for the occasional reunion gig, plays) bass for Ashtray Babyhead. CT is the lead singer of Southern sludge kings Rwake. And Raley's a vet of that band, too, but lately's been playing bass with Fayetteville's Deadbird. The band's sound harkens back to '70s metal and hard rock — Sabbath, Molly Hatchet, Motorhead — which makes it the heaviest band Chiaro, James and Tedford have probably ever been and the tamest for CT and Raley.

Up next: March 12 as The Hi-Tone in Memphis, March 15 at Vino's and March 19 at White Water with Joe Buck.

Music:

"Riddles"

"Seven Days"
