Duuude. Maker of killer book mixes, local guitar god and Lucky Dog Audio Poster Charles Wyrick
just debuted Pedal Talk
, a podcast devoted to the most fetishized part of guitar playing — effects pedals. And amazingly, it's not like sitting in on a Guitar Center geek-off.
In the format-defining premiere, Chris Michaels
brings along his rig and he and Wyrick talk about all of Michaels' various pedals. There's loads of live demos mixed with discussion on things like tremolo and vibrato, all of which segues into Wyrick playing songs Michaels recorded that demonstrate the effects.
If, like me, you don't play guitar, some of it's going to fly over your head. But for the most part, it's surprisingly breezy and edifying.
Check it out now and in the future. Wyrick's got an ambitious line-up coming down the pipe.
AND: Hear it live at 11 p.m. on "The Plague" tonight, where starting tonight Wyrick will be broadcasting every other week.
AND AND: Catch Chris Michaels and the Cranks at the CD release party for "Morning & Night," Michaels' debut album, at Oyster Bar on Saturday, 7 p.m. (part starts), 9 p.m. (music starts), $5.
