Long time local sideman and current Boondog Chris Michaels, who’s played with everyone from Beanland to Buddy Flett, Kevin Gordon to Greg Spradlin, Cab Calloway to—well, you get the idea, has a new record out today. It’s called “Morning & Night,” and it’s his first.

At least from the early master I have, it sounds great: mediative bar-rock with all sorts of stylistic flourish. Which is perhaps what you’d expect from a project that features three drummers and even more guest guitarists.

Max Recordings put it out. You can pick it up via Amazon or iTunes. And check out the time elapse (?) shot via the Max site. It’s nice.

Michaels and his backing band make the Cranks make their live debut this Friday in Tulsa. On Nov. 14, they’ll play the official release party at Oyster Bar.
