Tuesday: 'The Century of Masterpieces,' Matt Anders, Peter Carey, Interstate Buffalo and more

Decorated pianist Andrew von Oeyen sticks around to perform "The Century of Masterpieces" with the Quapaw and Sturgis Quartets as part of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra's River Rhapsodies series at the Clinton Center. The program features selections from Haydn, Mendelssohn and Franck, 7 p.m., $6-$28.

Booker Prize winning novelist Peter Carey ("Oscar and Lucinda," "True History of the Kelly Gang") is Artist in Residence at UCA this week. Tonight, he'll give a public reading in Lewis Science Center 102, 7:30 p.m., free, and tomorrow morning he'll talk about writing in Thompson Hall 331, 10 a.m., free.

Local pop singer/songwriter Matt Anders offers a rare solo performance at Union, 9:30 p.m.

Alt-rockers Sore Eyes share the bill at Juanita's with Trauma Deville and the Alexei, 9 p.m., $6.

As usual, Carl Mouton hosts a jam session at the Afterthought, 8 p.m., free.

And J-One hosts an open mic for poets, lyricists and musicians at Crush, 10 p.m., $3 for guys, ladies free.

Formerly known as South 61, Interstate Buffalo brings its jam-y Southern rock to White Water, 10 p.m., donations.
