(Little Rock) – The $ports Take with Rick Horrow, a new VERSUS television network series focused on the business of sports, is being produced from the Little Rock studios of JM Associates, a division of Career Sports & Entertainment (CS&E) of Atlanta. The announcement was made at a 10:00 am, Tuesday, August 25th news conference at the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce featuring the producers, host and representatives of the Arkansas and Little Rock Film Commissions.

From current sports headlines to the future of the $750 billion industry, The $ports Take will offer insight about the hottest topics in sports business, while presenting high profile guests, including league commissioners, sportscasters, politicians and celebrities giving their candid opinions and analysis.

“The $ports Take joins the ranks of numerous programs produced by JM Associates in Little Rock, proving that you don’t have to be on a coast to create television programming,” said Herren Hickingbotham, chairman of the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce, which initiated and manages the region’s film commission.

From its full production studios in Little Rock, JM Associates produces other network series, such as The Spanish Fly, Vida del Mar, MadFin and The STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® SERIES.

“With state of the art equipment and industry recognized and award-winning producers, directors, writers, cinematographers, editors and crew, the Little Rock region has established itself as a go to location for creative and innovative content,” said Christopher Crane, the Arkansas film commissioner. “As more projects originate from the city and state, more opportunities will become available for residents and companies in Little Rock and Arkansas. With companies like JM, Arkansas is exporting content instead of content makers.”

After working together for years on sports-related projects, CS&E and Rick Horrow saw an opportunity to capitalize on the expertise of each and, for the first time, bring viewers to the line where athletics and money come together to build stadiums, negotiate contracts and create mergers, all of which often have economic ramifications far beyond just the individuals involved in the deal. When deciding where would be the best place for a show like this to live, it made logical sense to partner with VERSUS, the fastest growing sports network.

Series Host Rick Horrow spoke at the announcement. “Sports fans know where to go for their nightly sports scores, but who is keeping score on the hundreds of millions of dollars spent in the name of sports business? Only The $ports Take,” said Horrow. “Each Tuesday, we will offer viewers timely and relevant information that will take them behind the headlines of the $750 billion sports business industry. I chose to partner with industry leaders in sports, business and production – VERSUS, JM Associates and Career Sports & Entertainment (CS&E) – to bring this show to fans.”

“Everyone at JM Associates and CS&E is excited about The $ports Take with the ‘Sports Professor’ Rick Horrow and what it offers sports fans,” said Angie Thompson, director of content development for JM Associates. “No other show provides fans this insider access to the personalities, commissioners and key players in sports and business. Pair that access with our national broadcast partner VERSUS and Rick’s unique perspective on the issues impacting the industry, and we are confident that fans will tune in each week.”

Those in attendance were shown a preview of the series premiere airing later that evening on VERSUS featuring Arkansas native Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys. The weekly half-hour series will air Tuesday nights at 5:30 pm (CST) and 6:30 pm (EST).
