Daily Digest: Kiss joins Wal-Mart army

As it has for previous releases by the AC/DC, the Eagles and Foreigner, Wal-Mart will exclusively release the next Kiss album. "Sonic Boom," the band's first release in 11 years, is due out Oct. 6.  For $12, Wal-Mart customers will get the new 11-track CD, a re-recorded greatest hits album (yikes) and a DVD of a live concert in Buenos Aires.
Pitchfork is counting down the top 500 tracks of the 2000s. It comes across more arbitrary than ambitious. No write-ups, but little streaming players of almost every track. In 500-201, the only Arkansas connections are the Gossip's "Standing in the Way of Control" at 429 and Johnny Cash's "The Man Comes Around" at 296.

For "Mad Men" nerds, Vulture offers funny, incisive episode recaps. Max has a show discussion thread going here, too.
