Copeland.
ALSO: You can't love contemporary indie rock and take band's names too seriously. The less you think about Yourself and the Air as a name the better. Instead, check out the band's recent Daytrotter session. It's full of moody instrumentation, including particularly nice swirling guitar figures, and lead singer Eric Crosby's lound-soft vocals. All that's inspired comparisons to the likes of Modest Mouse and the Go-Betweens. The Chicago act come to Sticky Fingerz on Thursday with Adam Faucett and Thing One playing in support, 9 p.m., $7.

It's a bill full of young, energetic indie-poppers at Revolution, with Copeland, Sherwood, Anchor and Braille and Barcelona, 7 p.m., $13-$15.

At Cajun's, local cover band Jet 420 plays songs you know, 9 p.m., $5.

Judson and Josh Spillyards form the core of the Spillyards Brothers Jazz Trio with Ryan Hitt or Chris Atwood filling the third spot; they play the House, 6-9 p.m., free.

Local jazz player and patron Rex Bell leads a trio at the Afterthought's weekly jazz night, 8 p.m., $5.
