Today, Wildwood Park for the Arts announced that it's bringing Levon Helm and his 12-piece band to its Lucy Lockett Cabe Theater on Saturday, June 20, two days after he stops in at Walton Arts in Fayetteville. The appearance serves as the second annual Native Sons & Daughters Tribute. Last year, Stephen Koch's Louis Jordan revue kicked the series off.
But you're gonna have to be upwardly mobile or a really big Levon fan to go to this show. Tickets, which include a pre-show reception with complimentary food and booze, cost $125. Or $200 if you want a backstage pass and an invite to the post-party. The theater holds 625, but friends of Levon and sponsors have gobbled up all but 400. You can get tickets by calling 821.7275.
Price aside, and for a small venue like Wildwood it's probably pretty close, way to be Cliff Baker and co. When the park first opened, it hosted Johnny Cash and Maya Angelou. Mixing uses and bringing in different crowds is what it should be all about.
