Now imagine adults, with beers and a DJ.

So, hopefully, you’ve already committed the basics to memory: The first annual Rock Candy 500 pinewood derby race is slated for Thursday, April 9, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m at the River Market Pavilion.

That’s three weeks from tomorrow.

It’s open to all ages. Prizes will be awarded for speed, paint, design, best kid’s entry (under 14) and best of show.

We’re going to have a 40-foot track.

The entry fee is $8 per car, in advance, and $10 the day of the race. There’s a $5 admission for spectators. Print out an entry form to mail or drop off at our office here. Or give me a call at 375-2985 and I’ll take down your credit card number.

All proceeds go to benefit Boy Scout Troop 5, a troop of Easter Seals Arkansas kids.

We’re going to have cheap-ish beer for sale and a DJ for atmosphere.

Go here for the rules.

It’s gonna be big fun.
