The Rep unveils new season

The Rep announced an impressive 2009-2010 season earlier tonight.

Here tis.

One of the theater's most popular productions and a play that's seen a recent national resurgence, "Always...Patsy Cline," kicks off the season from Sept. 11-Oct. 4.

Then the Second City Touring Company returns from Oct. 7-18.

The theater's always impressive young artist's musical revue this year is called "Folly Holidays." It'll survey holidays throughout the year. It's Nov. 5-14.

For its annual holiday production, the Rep tackles another of it's most requested, Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," from Dec. 4-Jan. 3.

"Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" opens the second half of the season, from Feb. 5-Feb. 21.

A more contemporary play, "Glorious," runs from March 12-28. It's a comedy about the true life story of New York socialite Florence Foster Jenkins, who didn't let talent stand in the way of her dream to be one of the great opera singers. The play was nominated for an Laurence Olivier Award in 2006 for Best Comedy.

Next, after a Oscar nominated film adaptation, the Tony Award-nominated play "Frost/Nixon" comes to the Rep, April 16 to May 2.

One of the great American musicals, a play the Rep's artistic director Bob Hupp said he thought the theater could never pull off, until last year's successful staging of "Les Mis," "Ragtime" closes out the season from May 28 to June 27.

Pretty solid.
