'Forrest Gump' retread leads the way in Oscar nominations

The Oscar nominations are here and, as usual, they're fairly boring. David Fincher's long, sentimental mash-up of 'Forrest Gump' and a forgotten F. Scott Fitzgerald short story leads the way with 13 nominations.

I'm sticking with the common wisdom that there's no way it, or anything else, is beating "Slumdog Millionaire" for Best Picture.

The big surprise nomination: Michael Shannon, who starred in Jeff Nichols' "Shotgun Stories," for Best Supporting Actor in "Revolutionary Road." Way to be, Mike.
