The not blurry one: David Gordon Green
L.A. Times has a nice profile on Little Rock-born filmmaker David Gordon Green today. Kate Beckinsale clearly emailed her quote in: “He’s a magpie, but he doesn’t go for the shiny things — he goes for the busted tin can and the three-legged dog. I describe him as being like one of those Simon and Garfunkel songs that has all these little odd, interesting, quirky objects and details set to this amazing tune.” “David Gordon Green, mainstream director?” – Los Angeles Times (free, but registration required).
Terry Southern was a prophet. Last night, on “The Moment of Truth,” Fox’s new lie-detector show, a woman let it all out. She admitted to stealing money from work, thinking that she should’ve married an ex-boyfriend and cheating on her husband, only to blow $200,000 on a throwaway question. Turns out she doesn’t, in fact, believe she’s a good person. Jeez. See the whole cringeworthy, sign-of-the-end-times affair on Vulture. -‘The Moment of Truth’ Finally Delivers on Its Promise to Ruin Marriages.
The often awesome DJ/producer Diplo has a reuped the “AEIOU”mixtape he put out like eight years ago on the Mad Decent blog. Highly recommended. Breaks, funk-rock, moaning, long jams. It’s a mixtape one might even use, unsubtly, to set the mood.
Afternoon waster: “Derek and Simon” is stupid funny.
