Repping Little Rock from Atlanta, S.L. Jones just dropped his debut album. As we reported way back when, he was originally promoting it as "Bangin' in Little Rock," but he ended up going with one of those unwieldy acronyms "C.O.L.O.R.S. (Collectively Organizing Leaders Offering A Revolutionary State of Mind)." I haven't listened to it all yet, but what I have sounds pretty alright. To his credit, he doesn't lean to heavy on his mentor Killer Mike (only 3 out of 21), even though the album is littered with big name guest spots, everyone from the Clipse to Trae to Chamillionaire. His flow might be a little plodding at times, but maybe it takes a minute to warm up.

You can buy it here. Ugly Mike's doesn't have it, nor do they anticipate having it.

XXL likes it and has some songs to stream.

Here are the two tracks that feature locals. E-Dubb (AKA EW Bush) has one of the best voices in rap. Anywhere. It's like he's been inhaling cigars and drinking pure grain since he was 12. Then, there's 607. He kills it as usual, doing that thing he likes to do where he gives a popular acronym and explains how, in his world, it stands for something different. P.E. in this case (pistol etiquette), popping off references Neapolitan, scatological and incomprehensible. Also, it's the first time I can remember him referencing his real name in song. The chorus sucks.
