These are my opinions only. Let's start with the positive. The ambiance is amazing. I really liked the woodwork.
But lets talk about the food
. I've always found Shepherd's pie
to be a bit different wherever you go (kinda like gumbo-everybody's is a bit different). This one was a bit more traditional and covered with an entire layer of mashed potatoes.
And absolutely no vegetables-
Although to be honest, it was quite good- I just expected maybe a carrot or two.
The wife had the corn beef and cabbage. Not excellent, but good. But let's face it, it's a relatively bland dish to begin with. Quite frankly, I'm not sure what an "excellent" corn beef and cabbage would taste like.
But there was certainly no complaining about the Guinness Chocolate Cake- talk about decadent.
All in all, it was a good night out. They have a few glitches to work through- for instance we received a menu without any pages. Our table distinctly lacked condiments or even salt and pepper. But I suspect they'll work through it. I look forward to another visit soon.
