We get letters. This one from Bruce Peterson, an “eating expert,” touting a restaurant near Hot Springs Village.

I thought I would tell you about a little place on Highway 7 north of Hot Springs Village and south of Jessieville. It is called the Home Plate Cafe and it’s physical address is 5110 N. Hwy 7, Hot Springs AR.

This is a great place to eat. It is a clean, family-owned cafe with great home cookin’ type meals at a bargain. Service is exceptional in this day and time. They must insist on friendly and helpful attention from their wait staff. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner but get there early or expect to wait a bit because the word has gotten out about this place and the locals fill it up. They serve a daily lunch special and a couple of choices for the dinner specials. Chicken fried steak with two sides on the dinner menu is $5.95. A must is the Chocolate Turtle Cake for dessert.

I hope you will give this place a visit. We eat there regularly and are never unhappy unless its because we get there late and have to wait.
