An Eat Arkansas reader throws open the subject of serving staffs and restaurant hygiene. I'll let him do the talking.
As a general observation it seems that the level of dress and yes, even personal grooming and general overall appearance in the food service industry with front line line employees, (those interacting with/serving the customer), at many of Little Rock's food oriented establishments, could use a little prodding to take it up a level or three.
There are obviously many, many exceptions but there are also many examples of just plain, common-sense inappropriate levels of the above, some even found in what are considered the "finer" establishments and take/out food businesses in town.
If you are serving food, there are standards. Uniforms or standard issued shirts for all counter and waiter/waitress personnel would go a long way in my opinion. Sure, I know, it is summer. All the more reason to get a uniform, take a shower and look the part. Note to servers and counter personnel: we don't want to see your belly button ring or tattoo on the small of your back. And chipped finger nail polish from three weeks ago etc. is not a fashion statement.
And while you're at it don't stick your fingers in the glass your bringing to me, but carry it like a professional server would.
And note to Vino's (and others). Yeah, we get that you're all about the "grunge atmosphere" and you do make a great pizza and serve Guinness on tap, so we'll cut you a little slack. But dirty, smelly, bathrooms don't add character. It is, as your mother would clearly observe, just a putrid, dirty, disgusting restroom.
Rant or legit observation? Maybe both. Be interesting to see what others think.
