Friday:

First, the art show to end all art shows (well, at least since “Girls and Robots”), jumps off at the Historic Arkansas Museum as part of 2nd Friday Art night. Lauren Wilcox’s  award-winning metalwork will be on display. Lots of intricate machines with weights and balloons (metal balloons) and pulleys. Her work is sort of Rube Goldberg meets Joseph Cornell. AND Wester Meds are playing at the opening. The new experimental act features Rod Bryan on turntable and sampler, TJ Deeter on CD turntable and black book and Charles Wyrick on qchord and microsynth. 5 pm, FREE.

Later, Chris Denny, fingers-crossed that he’s out of jail after getting arrested in Conway over a dispute (over a waffle?) at Waffle House , will be headlining a big show at White Water, which again will feature Wester Meds as well as impressive folk-singer Shannon Wurst. 9pm, $5. UPDATE: He’s out; the show will go on in full.

UFC and Mixed Martial Arts fans, head to The Village for “Violence in the Village,” real-deal cage-fighting to the death. Nah, not really. Just until there’s blood.  No, but really, it’s a sanctioned sport in Arkansas and will probably not feature punches as devastating as the one above, but it’s sure to be a spectacle. With a full card and ring card girls. 7 pm, $20.
