Crack cover band The Libras play the songs of Tom Petty tonight at White Water at 9. Made up of members of The Boondogs, The Easys, Big Silver and the Greg Spradlin Experience (or whatever the hell his group is called beyond Greg Spradlin), The Libras are working a semi-regular slot at WWT. A couple weeks back they did Dylan. Surely Elvis Costello is on the horizon. $3.

Earlier: Shop 'n' Sip is going on in Hillcrest. The Boondogs play Box Turtle (that's a whole lotta playing for Messrs. Alexander, Michaels, Weinheimer and Wyrick in one night)

Birch Tree Communities hosts its annual art sale/fundraiser at Saint Mark's Episcopal Church on Mississippi. Birch Tree is a clinical and rehabilitative mental health center based in Benton. Patients get arts instruction weekly and create some incredibly striking stuff. $20, 6:30-8:30. Hors D'oeuvres, beer, wine and live jazz.

During its regular Thursday night deck party, Cajun's is hosting a battle of bands for a spot in Riverfest opening for Ark. Times Showcase winner Cooper's Orbit. Battling: Danger Ready, The Frup, Hwy 5, Pail and Subdue.

Also: jam-heroes Gov't Mule play Rev Room, 8 pm, $25. And the dudes behind The Treehouse bring Skeleton and Kings of All Cities to play experimental pop and such at Easy Street. All ages. 10 pm, $5.
