“Babel,” the Brad Pitt-Cate Blanchett film, won best drama, and “Dreamgirls” got the nod for best musical in MOnday night’s Golden Globe Awards, presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Here’s a link to the association’s website and a list of winners.

This bodes well for both films in the Oscars, as well as for British actress Helen Mirren, who won the best actress Golden Globe for “The Queen,” adding to her list of honors for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II (and how weird that she played Elizabeth I on HBO last year, too). Forrest Whitaker took home best actor for “The Last King of Scotland.” We’re expecting that to be the Oscar call as well in the top acting awards, as well as Golden Globe best director Martin Scorcese repeating at Oscar time. “Babel” and “The Queen” are still playing at Market Street, and “Last King of Scotland” should be here soon.

“Grey’s Anatomy” won best TV drama, of course. Not that we think it is, but you could see that one coming a mile away.
