A-State fails to land on Hogs' 2007 schedule

No shock that the Tribe and Hogs won't play football (or any sport) in 2007, or ever, as long as Frank Broyles is running the UA athletic fortunes. But interesting that Arkansas made room for three A-State rivals among its nonconference opponents in the schedule released today by the UA sports media office.

We probably aren't stepping out on a limb in calling this maybe the worst in-state schedule the Hogs have managed to lineup since joining the SEC in 1992. Your attractive Fayetteville games are Auburn, South Carolina and its coach Steve Spurrier, and a slightly improved Kentucky. Lowly Tennessee-Chattanooga and SEC-lowly Mississippi State are the Little Rock opponents. We're guessing the UA isn't going to ask its season-ticket holders to pony up more than $35 a game for next season's slate, as that's going to run a season-ticket holder $280 per ticket, not including the extra "gratuity" that goes to the Razorback Foundation to secure a good parking spot, a media brochure and all the fun that comes with supporting the Razorbacks.

Of course, Darren McFadden IS back next fall, so that should make for a draw for the fans.
