I'm excited about seeing this Celtic Woman show tonight. Yeah, I know to some of you that might seem like saying I'm looking forward to Riverdance. Or Yanni. But, besides the women being pretty much all babes, I've seen their PBS show that airs quarterly or so on AETN, and the music is pretty good, if you go for that Gaelic kind of stuff, with the whistles and uilleann pipes and such -- which I do. Celtic Woman is four terrific singers and a fiddler, plus a backup band and a chorus of voices. Since Enya never tours, they're the closest thing you're going to get to that trad-meets-new age Celtic sound.
Little Rock's lucky to be getting the show, and AETN is the reason, and it's a benefit for the network as well. There are $70 seats available at the box office. Showtime is 8 p.m.
And AmyB, the staff party girl, reminds us of something completely different (and something we would have thought was so un-AmyB like): Get that olde family bible or that signed copy of “Gone With the Wind,” and take them to the Main Library tonight. NPR’s “The Book Guys” -- Allan Stypeck and Mike Cuthbert will appear for a future broadcast. Two shows are set from 6 and 7:15 p.m. at the Darragh Center Auditorium.
Reservation are required, the number is 918-3032.
